Fay’s varsity golf team debuted its inaugural competitive season with an undefeated record of 3-0-1. With a robust roster of 26 golfers, Coach Joe Buteau had ample talent to field both a varsity and an intramural team. The varsity squad featured a strong mix of skilled male and female players and played home matches at the nearby Southborough Golf Club.
Fay’s soccer program had an outstanding season, with strong team performances. Girls varsity soccer achieved a historic milestone, winning the Indian Mountain School Tournament for the first time. Along the way, they avenged an early season loss to Rectory, defeating them en route to the championship game. The team wrapped up the season with a solid 6-4 record. Girls JV soccer showed remarkable resilience, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to tie their final game against Applewild. Meanwhile, the 5-6 team kept their games competitive, earning four hard-fought ties over the course of the season.
On the boys’ side, varsity A soccer posted an excellent 9-2-1 record and claimed second place at the Eaglebrook Tournament. Varsity B soccer had a dominant 10-0 undefeated regular season.
Although they didn’t secure a tournament victory, they battled tough competition at the inaugural Fay Boys Soccer Play Day, remaining competitive in every matchup. The 5-6 and JV boys teams had strong seasons, finishing with .500 records. The JV team closed their season on a high note with a victory over Applewild.
Fay’s volleyball program continued to thrive this season, fueled by a deep roster of talented and experienced players. After an early setback with a loss to Rectory, varsity volleyball bounced back in dominant fashion, going undefeated for the remainder of the season and finishing with an outstanding 12-1 record. With 45 athletes in the program, Fay successfully fielded two well-balanced JV teams, ensuring opportunities for all players to develop and compete.
Varsity field hockey capped off a solid season with a 5-6-1 record. Highlights included an exciting road victory against longtime rival Shore and a strong finish with a win over Dedham Country Day. With 6 eighth graders and 11 seventh graders set to return and a promising group of 5-6 players ready to step up, the team is well-positioned to build on this season’s success.
Varsity football continued to showcase strength and depth, finishing with a 5-3 record against tough competition, including several high school JV teams. Season highlights included a thrilling Friday night win under the lights against Williston Northampton and a victory over rival Fenn to bring home the F Bowl trophy.
Cross country had a great turnout this fall, with 40 runners participating. Both the boys and girls teams delivered impressive performances throughout the season. At the Roxbury Latin Jamboree, the girls team placed fourth out of ten teams, while the boys team secured sixth place out of twelve.
Intramural fall tennis continues to provide students with a valuable opportunity to gain experience and refine their skills, laying the foundation for competitive play in the spring.
One of the unsung stars of this fall season was the exceptional New England weather. With warm, sunny days and not a single game rained out, athletes enjoyed ideal conditions for competition and training. The beautiful weather also gave multisport athletes ample chances to explore the great outdoors through mountain biking, hiking, and other activities, making this fall truly unforgettable.
