Campus Tour
Fay House
Welcome to Fay School! If you come visit our campus, your tour will begin at Fay House, which is home to our Office of Admission. One of the oldest buildings on our campus, it is named for our founder, Eliza B. Fay.
The Quad
Our main quad is the hub of our campus, and it’s where you’ll find most of our academic buildings. When the weather is nice, you’ll often find classes taking place outside and students meeting in their advisory groups.
Primary School
Our Primary Building is home to children in Kindergarten through grade two. In addition to classrooms, the building includes a dedicated library and dining room—all specially designed for our youngest students.
Root Building
The Root Building is home to Fay’s Lower School (grades 3-6) and Upper School (grades 7-9). The Lower School classrooms are in a dedicated wing of the building, in spaces specially designed for collaborative, hands-on learning.
Wellness Center/Steward Dorm
The Wellness Center is located on the first floor of Steward Dormitory. Here’s where you’ll find our on-duty nurses who care for our day and boarding students. It’s also the headquarters for our Wellness program, which is designed to help students develop life skills and make smart choices at every stage of pre-adolescence and adolescence.
Dining Room Building
The Camp Dining Room Building is one of the oldest buildings on Fay’s campus. This is where you’ll find our dining room, where students in grades 3-9 meet every day for delicious, home-cooked, family-style meals featuring locally grown produce.
Family-Style Meals
Family-style meals at Fay are a longstanding tradition. Faculty members join the students for meals and students take turns as waiters. It’s an opportunity to relax with friends and catch up on school news.
Primary Dining Commons
Our dining tradition begins in the Primary School. With its own dining room, children eat delicious family-style meals together with their teachers and learn the importance of courtesy and manners.
Village Dorms
Fay is home to 150 boarders in grades 7-9 who come from across the United States and more than 20 countries. Our Village Dorms are state-of-the-art, environmentally “green” buildings. In addition to spacious double and triple rooms, each dorm has cozy common spaces with kitchenettes, televisions, board games, and phones to call home.
Dormitories
Our boarders live in single, double, and triple rooms in our safe and comfortable dorms, which also include apartments for faculty dorm parents who are on hand at all times to offer guidance and support.
Harlow Gym
The Harlow Gym is home to Fay’s athletics program.
Harlow Gym
Beginning in fifth grade, students choose a sport to participate in each trimester, and with more 20 different sports to choose from, there’s something for everyone. Our teams play—and win!—against a competitive network of local peer schools.
Primary Multipurpose Room
Physical education is also part of the regular schedule for students in Kindergarten through fourth grade. Most P.E. classes for Kindergarten through grade two take place in the Primary Multipurpose Room.
Athletic Campus
Just 1.5 miles north of our main campus, Fay also has a dedicated 36-acre athletic campus that boasts athletic fields, batting cages, and groomed cross country trails.
Reinke Turf Field
Our turf field in the Reinke Building enables our athletes to stay in top condition, regardless of the weather.
Primary Playground
In addition to our athletic fields, students have access to two playground areas…
Primary Patio
…as well as an outdoor classroom space, which includes raised garden beds where Primary Students cultivate their own plants and observe their growth over the seasons.
Picardi Art Center
Art classes for grades three through nine take place at the Picardi Art Center. With studios for printmaking, ceramics, painting, sculpture, and other media, Fay students have the opportunity to build their art skills and find new modes of expression.
Dance Studio
Lower and Upper School students may choose dance as an athletic option, and they practice in our dance studio, which is located in Harlow Gym.
Harris Theater
Harris Theater is home to many Fay’s music and drama productions. Our 350-seat theater regularly fills for our drama productions: recent shows have included Into the Woods, Once On This Island, and High School Musical, and we offer drama opportunities to all students from Kindergarten through ninth grade.
Root Library
The library in the Root Building boasts more than 20,000 volumes in addition to a vast array of digital resources.
Center for Creativity & Design
This state-of-the-art 7,000 square-foot space is home to our Creativity and Design program. It features modular, user-friendly spaces that are outfitted specifically for creative problem-solving among students and faculty. Students and faculty have access to sophisticated tools for making creative ideas and designs a reality, including CNC routers, laser cutters, and 3D printers. Most importantly, the new CC&D positions creativity and design at the heart of Fay’s campus, fostering collaboration among faculty and reinforcing design thinking as an integral component of our academic program.
Adventure Course
At the southern end of our campus you’ll find our high ropes courses, which are popular for team building activities, our Multi-sport athletics option, and our FaySummer program.
Swimming Pools
During the summer, Fay’s campus is home to FaySummer, which offers day programs for ages 3-15 and overnight programs for ages 10-15. With offerings that include arts, athletics, engineering, and technology, there’s something for everyone! A highlight is our swim program which takes place in our two swimming pools - a standard pool, and a zero-entry pool for our youngest campers.
We hope you’ll visit us and learn more about Fay School! Our admission officers and student ambassadors would love to show you our campus and tell you more about our program. Contact us at admission@fayschool.org,
