Whether you dream of a starring role, love being in the chorus, or are an enthusiastic backstage helper, there is something for everyone in drama at Fay. With opportunities in every division, students are able to stretch themselves creatively while also developing confidence, poise, and public speaking skills.
In the Primary School, our first and second graders work on a musical show with their classroom teachers and the Music Department. In addition they have the opportunity to participate in drama during
Extended Fay. In the Lower School, students in grades three and four can join the Extended Fay drama option. Students in grade five and six can choose drama as part of their afternoon offerings. During this time, they learn the basics of theatre vocabulary, character development, improvisation, and script development. This afternoon drama option will have a performance at the end of the term.
Upper School students can participate in two drama productions each year. Students can audition for roles, and they can also get involved in other aspects of the production, such as stage managing, designing and creating costumes, and building props and sets.
The winter production is a full play developed over the course of the term. Previous shows include
Charlotte’s Web,
But We Don’t, and
The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet. The spring production, a highlight of each year, is always a musical. Recent shows have included
The Pirates of Penzance,
Once Upon a Mattress Jr,
Once on This Island Jr,
Annie Jr,
Aladdin Jr, and
Beauty and the Beast Jr.
